yes the MS account was not so nice but it is simple : just select 'create new account' and then you get an option to use an existing account.
when someone has the same problem : try to remove the xml file first (when bascom is closed !!!). And then see if it will work.
The xml is at the right place and you have the right permission and you should not even have to have admin rights for this. Only during setup you need admin rights. (and when doing an update).
About the programmer : when the programmer does not work with the atmel driver, there is no way that it will work with bascom either. Because bascom uses LIBUSB that 'talks' to the original driver.
You could however try to make and install a device driver (as for usbasp) and not a filter driver. This way, you talk directly to the device. But ... you can not use avr studio for programming that way.
Before trying to do so i recommend to make a backup and/or restore point.
I guess that atmel(jungo) will fix the driver in the future.
