I have been using the Bascom environment for many years and was able to program micros using the parallel port "Sample programmer". However, since obtaining a new computer running windows 7 without a parallel port I was forced into buying a USB programmer. I bought a USASP AVR programmer from Protostack P/L and whilst it works well for higher frequency clock rates it fails when I go for 128Khz clocks and below even when I put the link in for low clock rates. Is it possible to just buy a USB programmer that works for both fast and slow clock rates? I don't want to go down the path of spending the time to understand AVRDudes software as it appears to have a large learning curve. Surely in this day and age it is not beyond the technical ability of companies to be able to produce a programmer that works without having to download additional firmware.
