There is nothing wrong with the Prolific USB-serial adapter. It looks like there is a second reset approximately .01 second (~10 characters at 9600 baud) after the first.
The cause could be a drop in voltage at startup, so that it starts again.
Another cause for double reset could be the way ISP-programming works here.
At this STK200 the MOSI,MISO,SCK lines pass trough an IC 4053 in such a way that during programming these lines are disconnected from the other on board functions to be exclusively available for programming. So programmer can allways stay connected to board.
Programming ends with:
- the 4053 switches the lines back to normal
- reset
