If you are using a RTC such as DS1307 64 x 8, Serial, I2C Real-Time Clock Why do you want to use the sw time keeping function? it is redundant and is volatile. CONFIG CLOCK Configures the timer to be used for the TIME$ and DATE$ variables. If you are using the SWQ o/p from the DS1307, as the reference for the OSC input on the mcu, do you want to run your code that slow(max 32.768KHz? I am not aware that the mcu that you are using has pll logic that will multiply the OSC input I know that a xmega can! Rick
