thank you dear ennion. can you explain more on it? I wrote a small program to test your suggestion but the 'x' value can not be more than 254 . Apparently no variable of any kind can not be larger than 254 bytes. :x [code:1:ab647af7b8]$regfile = "m32def.dat" $crystal = 1000000 $baud = 1200 $bigstrings Dim Buffer As String * 300 Dim Pos As Word : Pos = 260 Dim Pos1 As Word : Pos1 = 270 Dim Final_buffer(302) As Byte At Buffer Overlay Dim X As Word Dim Ar As String * 100 Buffer = "rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrubvvvvvvvvmrtroooottttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt999999rrrrrrrrrrrrThisTsTaTes" For X = Pos To Pos1 Ar = Ar + Chr(final_buffer(x)) Next Print "ar:" ; Ar 'i see ar: on the terminal [/code:1:ab647af7b8] [/code]
