I recently received a HLK-RM04 wireless router serial to tcpip development module with this you can send two serial ports via TCPIP to anywhere via the internet. You can create virtual serial ports on a PC with software you can get from the Hi-Link site. The unit is 40mm x 28mm in size with two rows of header pins to bring out the connections with the development board you already have two Ethernet ports a serial port with DB9 and provision for a second serial port. Now not only do you get two serial ports to TCPIP you also get a full Linux based router with all the features like firewall , NAT , filtering , DHCP , Security etc The cost is less than that of a Wiznet module. When I have played with it a bit more I might start another blog using this with an AVR.
Here are some shots of the set-up pages.
