Many ways lead to Rome...
And I think your example is a good one to see how to get structure in a program flow.
This has been the hardest part in learning to me, and it still is.
One can find good explainations of commands and stuff, but I never found a good guide about how to put all the bits together to become a reliable, fast program that communicates via interfaces while blinking 7 leds in different rhythems while displaying several changing values on an lcd while reacting to buttons being pressed.
