Hi, I used them too, ten yrs ago. AFAIK they are off production since years.
I found then difficult to record, as it's done the analog way.
I recommend not to use them anymore.
But if you really like to play around a little, why not. At least it's educative.
If you're stuck in the DS, ask a clear question, I'm shure we can help you.
BTW: At this point you are a bit off topic, I gues you are going to control the chip using an AVR?
I used only pushbuttons, no logic at all.
